Somewhere in the world, war rages. You are a infra-red TV operator (gunner) aboard an AC-130 gunship. Your mission is to provide fire support for friendly troops on the ground. Beware of friendly fire! Do not fire on troops marked by a flashing IR strobe!
AC-130 is an arcade shooter game with old-school gameplay delivered in a modern style. The game has been written as part of a university assignment in C programming and has since begun a life of its own as an open-source project. Inspired by the famous Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare "Death From Above" mission.
All content is procedurally generated, which allows the game to be of minimal size (around 370 kB, 256 of which is the font texture).

I would like to clarify some things.
First of all, the game has no real gameplay yet - i.e. there's nothing to kill. There is a soldier sprite in the middle of the terrain, but he's there just for display, he cannot be interacted with. I just didn't have enough time to finish the project before turning it in at the university.
Secondly, there is an outstanding performance issue with the game on ATI/AMD hardware. You will be getting very low framerates on their GPUs, and I'm still not sure what's the deal. I'll be trying to fix it.

Heh, thanks. :) I'm working on this on my own and am currently doing some game development professionally over the summer, but I should be able to get back to this in August or September. Or in October, when the academic year starts.
