FRONTIERS blends the feel of first-person RPG classics like Daggerfall with the relaxing tempo & simplicity of a point-and-click adventure. Discover ancient mysteries, live off the land and fight deadly creatures, all in a beautiful open world.

  • Massive open world - go anywhere, any time
  • Unique relaxing pace and tone
  • An exploration-focused main quest that spans an entire continent
  • Simple gameplay - no stats or skill trees to memorize. (It barely qualifies as an RPG, really)
  • Live off the land - hunt, trap, fish and cook dozens of varieties of plantlife (including hallucinogens!) and a dozen varieties of animal
  • Minecraft-style crafting system
  • Dozens of skills to discover and learn, including magic, survival and stealth skills
  • Hundreds of shops, taverns, homes, caves, castles and other structures to explore
  • Four player co-op multiplayer - explore with your friends!
  • A haunting soundtrack for every region
  • Oculus Rift Support

Happy anniversary!
It's been ONE YEAR since the Kickstarter was funded, and to celebrate I've uploaded a ton of new content. After you've watched the Glider, Trapping & University videos in the videos section, seen the new terrain in the images section and read about the Weapons in the features section, check out this update video where I talk about multiplayer, the problems I've dealt with over the last year, and plenty more:

Preorders

Yay! As mentioned in the video we're finally offering preorders, which you can get through our Humble Store widget on the official site. (Make sure to read the FAQ!)

Steam Greenlight

Did I mention that FRONTIERS got greenlit? Well, it did - in fact it happened so fast (5 days!) that I still have whiplash. I know that a lot of IndieDB readers helped us get there, so thank you for your votes.

More Gameplay Videos

I'll be recording and posting more gameplay videos so keep an eye out. If there's something in particular you'd like to see, feel free to ask in the comments.

Cheers!
- L

The game looks really cool! What age rating would you give it, just out of curiosity.

this game looks neat but i would ask about the gameplay style, how will be the point adventure part be, compared to the firist person exploration travel? i mean, you will be able to tough a boton and the game will pass from a style to another or will be as cofunsing as dagerfall? (you know moving around with arrows and looking around with another bottons and then pointing out objets with cursor)

It's all first-person from beginning to end. (When I say point-and-click I'm talking more about pacing and tone than mechanics.)

This turns out to be a hard question to answer - it's slightly larger than Oblivion in terms of raw size. But thanks to fast travel and hang gliding, it may end up *feeling* a bit smaller. (I'll be curious to hear what players think when it's released.)

Oculus DK2 support for FRONTIERS is finally finished! T.co

Apr 9 2015, 12:28pm

@Railboy There should be a new, stronger word for 'best & worst.' Like bestworst, or besorst. Yes. VR is besorst for horror games.

@Oneeyedziggy My wife walked in on me playing. She had a chance to freak me out but chose not to. If she had we might both be dead now.

Mar 29 2015, 2:37pm

I totally froze! If I ever get cornered by a bear or something IRL I am so boned.

Mar 28 2015, 8:36pm

Froze, tasted copper, fingers went numb. Stared at it walking for 3+ seconds before I remember it's just a stupid game and hit pause. JESUS.

Mar 28 2015, 8:35pm

Loaded old save game, looked around at terminals & monitors for a bit. Pretty cool. Turned & saw Alien down the hall. Legit panic response.

Mar 28 2015, 8:34pm

Jesus. Just tried Alien:Isolation in Oculus mode. Wanted to compare interface text readability vs FRONTIERS. Almost fucking died of fright.

Mar 28 2015, 8:33pm

VR support is getting there slowly but surely! T.co

Mar 28 2015, 5:05pm

VR interface is 95% done. Hope it goes over well. Feels VERY strange not to have long-established solutions to check my work against.

I've nothing but bad experiences with Skype. For reference: I've had two good experiences with Norton Antivirus.
