Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for topics for a bachelor thesis. I am studying Computervisualization & Design with my focus being on Game Design (it's pretty much computer science with a bit of design on the side, it's a B.Sc., though). On my first attempt I wanted to evaluate playability heuristics and do some field research, but it didn't turn out too well and now I want to look for new topics for a new attempt. So, I'm currently just looking for extra inspiration and ideas for some interesting topics about the games industry. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

cheers! :)

Maybe an analysis on Game Programmers in the industry: how much they make, what they do on a day to day basis, how much experience they have, how they got their job, etc.

Interesting idea, thanks for that. Your input definitely created a spark and led to a few other ideas for me! More ideas are always welcome :)

How about an in-depth analysis of a specific game's community? You could even go so far as to look into how the mechanics, atmosphere, and/or story of the game they play has impacted the ways in which they communicate with one another. There are a ton of interesting and unique gaming communities out there and I am certain you could probably find one that has not been written about too extensively as well.

How about games that will help shape the future, not necessarily only education ones, but also ones created by governments as friendlier versions of big brother.

Ideas on how it could be/is being done;

An interesting topic indeed! I am trying not to choose a topic, which requires interviews though, because they are very time consuming and it's always a risk to depend on other people you do not know yet. I am going to think about alterations of the idea, though. Thanks!

Gamification is definitely a good topic. My professor mentioned it a couple of times in the past, aswell. Thanks!

I am also thinking about doing an analysis about the game development cycle from first idea to marketing and so on. Thanks for the input so far, really helpful! If you have more input, just go ahead. I have another day or two to decide in which direction I am going to go. cheers! :)

No problem! If you need any help finding journals/papers/books to source as well, I specialized in Game Studies during my time in university and know a few great collections you could look into.

All in all, however, I wish you the best of luck on your thesis!
