Hello there! I just wanted to drop a little post here about The Game Makers, an all-new digital series that focuses on the unique methods that some of our favorite game creators use to tell stories. From writing process, narrative design to directing live performance capture, the series explores game development through the eyes of Hideo Kojima, Neil Druckmann, Sean Vanaman and many others. Since everyone here loves games, I figured this might be relevant to people who both play and want to make games. The entire 10-part series is available to view online right now on YouTube, and each episode runs for about 10 to 12 minutes. You can watch it in order by checking out this convenient playlist, or pick and choose from the list below! Episode 1 - Story Development Episode 2 - Writing Process Episode 3 - Character & Emotion Episode 4 - Narrative Design Episode 5 - Structure Episode 6 - Directing & Performance Episode 7 - Environmental Story Episode 8 - Virtual & Augmented Reality Episode 9 - Social Themes Episode 10 - On the Future of Interactive Story It's a pretty quick watch, so I hope you find it informative! |

This is a very good set of docs and deserved of a place on Television and in Education. I found it immediately immersive and relative to our thoughts and concerns in developing great games for the future. Whether you are a writer yourself who needs to bridge the gap between your mind and the players mind or you need to develop work side by side with a writer. If you just love games watch it. Writers are passionate about delivering emotion, connection and atmosphere in a way that enhances game-play and audio-visual experiences. This documentary series rightfully salutes them. -- |
