I have an idea for something that I see as potentially unique. The idea would be for a crossover between strategy and trading card games, where battles are fought with cards. The game, as I envision it, would be singleplayer, with a Campaign mode as well as a sandbox mode. In the campaign, the player would select one of the major players during World War II, both Allied and Axis. The battles themselves would be fought in a TCG-style, with different decks for different types of fight. For example, the player would have a deck dedicated to sea landings, and one dedicated to aerial combat.

In sandbox mode, the player would be able to select any country in the world, and play as them from the year 1930 to 2130. The player would have a deck based off of technology available at the time and the nation's position at the starting time, meaning that and island nation like Great Britain would have more powerful naval-based cards. The player would be able to research technological advances, and these, in turn, would be as new cards. I haven't thought of a name for this, but I look forward to hearing your comments on it!
