Hi everyone,

I launched the Steam Greenlight campaign for "Spellbound" this afternoon. It's a VR spell casting game our two person team has been working on full time for almost a year. We recently did a video shoot of some friends playing our game and captured their reactions to the game play -- most have never tried VR before.

Anyways, you can see the greenlight page here: Spellbound Greenlight

My primary role in the project is the programming and game design. I'll be here to answer any questions about the game, developing for VR, etc.

Cheers,

Eric Nevala

I've watched a couple of gamedev friends run out of funds in recent months, so I caution you to make a thorough risk-analysis at this juncture. There's a question you need to ask yourself, which may be difficult to face, as close to the project as you are: is it actually likely that your game will make enough money to pay rent/food in the short term, given that you have no marketing budget and no existing media exposure? I know that is sucks to put dreams on hold, even temporarily. But you may want to consider delaying your launch a few months, so that you can pick up a day job or a few contracts to replenish your finances - build up enough money for another, say, 6 months, and then have the freedom to polish and market your game the way it deserves. VR is still in its infancy - I don't think that delaying your launch by 6 months is likely to significantly reduce the early-mover advantage, especially given the lackluster quality of the average VR title today.
