Social Media Marketing: Studio, Game or Personal Account? (Forums : General Banter : Social Media Marketing: Studio, Game or Personal Account?) Locked

I'm currently working on a game on my own and it's finally starting to look like an actual game. People keep telling me I should start engaging with social media, but I have little to no experience with that kind of stuff, so I keep putting it off. I found a few articles with useful information to get started, but there's one basic question I couldn't yet find and answer for:

Should I use an account on Twitter/Facebook/Reddit/etc named after the game, the "studio", or, since I'm the only developer anyway, simply use my personal account?

I imagine using the name of the game might increase short-term visibility, but it would be an issue for my next project, since I'd have to more or less start over with 0 followers. Studio accounts appear to be the most common option for small devs, but, well, it's just me, so it's not much of a studio. Plus I'd have to come up with a name, which I'm almost as bad at as with using social media. ; )

Is there some kind of best practice for this kind of stuff? It's probably a silly thing to worry about, but your input would be appreciated!

Id say the game, depending on if you plan on supporting for a long time or if its going to be then a case of moving onto the next project once finished it should be the studio, even if just little old you.
