Please post your reasons for or against! The game is about character development through a combination of both combat AND negotiation. Feature set:
----------------------------------
_________ "The Stasis-Field Generator malfunctioned and created an isolated time-loop, within the twenty mile diameter of its field the same week has been repeating for the last fifty years. Thirty years after the outside world had finally given up on penetrating that field a massive earthquake occurs which caused the device to become further miscalibrated. At that time rifts began opening, at first they appeared only within the generator's field, but as time went on they began appearing further and further away. The rifts have an energy field surrounding them that prevents certain chemical reactions from occurring, gunpowder will not ignite nor will combustion engines function within these fields. These rifts have since spread all over the globe, bringing much of modern life to a stand-still as entire armies are rendered helpless when their guns stopped working and motorized traffic came to a screeching halt. As these Rifts stabilized, things... creatures... began coming through them. Everything from Myth or Legend, Dream or Nightmare, exists in some universe, and the rifts are connecting these various realities. Nothing is safe, in this or any other universe..." The text then fades out and the narrator falls silent. The screen fades back in, this time in another universe; there is a pond in the center of the screen with a small silvery amoeba-like creature (approximately the size of a human fist) within it. A rift opens right next to the creature and a wind rises, flowing into the opening in reality, the creature is swept through. The camera follows the creature through the rift and sees it land in a stream-bed. The screen fades to black again, it then fades back in inside a house and a pair of twins, one male and one female, about fifteen years of age, appear. The screen grays a little and becomes unfocused and a question appears on it, "Are you Male or Female?" Once you answer the camera brightens, refocuses, and then goes into an isometric view of the corresponding teenager. At this point the cinematic ends and you gain control of the character. © Charles Hillman The plan is for an off-line single player RPG with destructible environment(which is required for about 1/2 of the skills to work properly) and an optional online PvP battle mode after a certain point is reached in the story. Currently, in addition to what is already displayed on here, I have the linear portion of the storyline, the health system, the skills, skill growth, skill interactions, character descriptions, some enemy concept art, and written versions of some of the boss-battle cinematics, along with a partial design-doc. I'm looking for volunteers to help me develop the game, as for what I'm looking for, in additin to someone to give me some advice on damage calculations, I need... Well, my programming skills are quite rudimentary(I can make a basic application for Windows or Linux and can make a web-site with HTML and CSS but only know a couple javasripts (image mapping is about the extent of that)) so definitely a Programmer, also a Graphic Artist/3-D Animator to translate my concept art into actual in-game graphics and do the cinematics, and a few Voice Actors(Amateur or professional doesn't matter, a long as they are decent, though I realize pro's would be a lot less likely to help without a definite, immediate, paycheck), and finally a Composer/Musician though an entire group of musicians would be preferable. Basically, just bumping this back up in the hopes of getting some replies... Edited by: Cadh20000 |

So......it's a variation on Palladium's Rifts mixed with The Emberverse? And the gimmick is a destructible environment? Honestly...not so good. Especially not now. Nothing is fleshed out enough. A novelization of the opening cinematic really isn't enough for people to properly look at the game. Other than that it's an unappealing sounding Rifts rehash with a gimmick, and that you've actually , I really don't know what to tell you Edited by: TerranAmbassador -- I snark, therefore, I am. |

I'm actually not familiar with the games you mentioned... ?_? Believe me though, there is a lot more already done. I'm just scared to put too much online where anyone can see it, so I may have erred on the side of cauton and I apologize for that. |

En.wikipedia.org To be honest, what you've presented here is neither original enough to get stolen (not that any good, or at least professional, developer would do that) nor appealing enough to play. Besides that, let me say this one thing again: A novelization of the opening cinematic really isn't enough for people to properly look at the game. Talk about the game itself. What kinds of systems you plan to use, is it going to be 2 or 3D? Point-n-click or twitch? What are your plans for actually going about making this? Things like that. Make it like the back of a game box. Short, sweet, distilled, to-the-point. -- I snark, therefore, I am. |
