Should I post my game on IndieDB? (Forums : General Banter : Should I post my game on IndieDB?) Locked

I have been using this website as a developer years ago.

I am not sure it is worth it to upkeep a page for my game here?

I am afraid it might distract me from working on my game, though feedback and testing is useful.

Also I am not sure how active is this website... I have looked at SlideDB and seen my old game on the rotating banner, it's been there for a few years now I think...

I am working now on a Unity game so I can post it in IndieDB, just not sure if it's worth the effort?

Depends on your persona, I tried (for a game that I am still developing) but I kinda gave up for two reasons:
1- I am lazy
2- Thinking how I should structure the article and what I should write and whatever it was "news worth" or not, also after spending this much time, I wanted to be sure that I would end in the main page and also make a video, which took some extra time (to upload as well, since my connection is ancient).

At the end I figured out that it took a lot of time that I could have spent doing something else.

BUT.
It works if you have someone write news for you or you are good at doing that and manage to do it in a reasonable amount of time, is it worth it?
Well, maybe.
I am following a few projects and I am interested in their updates, it is good if you have a community and you want to tell them what is going on but I had actually gained some followers from articles alone, so it does some good even when you do not have a community that knows you.

In short, if you are unsure, simply give it a shot.
Try and see how it goes for you, the worst it can happen is that you give up and just leave the page be and once you complete the game or whatever, just make an article few years later and be like "Oh hey sup, i still exist", for the sake of it.

I believe that every bit counts in a competitive market. To succeed you need to be constantly hustling. But there is a balance, don't waste your time it's previous, just be smart in doing things like posting here in an efficient manner. We are here to help you succeed after all. It's our #1 priority

I'm currently going through this issue myself with my game Rogue Machine but I've decided that if I want to build any sort of following or get feedback then I have to do this. It doesn't help that I don't like talking about things I'm working on or planning to do. I find it easier to talk about things I've already completed.

To try to make things easier, I've come up with a list of articles that I want to write and am aiming to submit one every four to six weeks. I've submitted my second one today and got the third one written but it needs pictures and videos to go with it. I'm actually finding it quite enjoyable and I'm finding it easier with each one I write. The first one I submitted got immediately archived, as I hadn't followed the guidelines. So I added the requisite number of images, asked for it to be re-assessed and it then went on the home page (this was after I threw up my hand, screamed internally and vowed to destroy the universe).

I like IndieDB as it gives me a central place to keep everything and gives me something to link to without having to maintain my own website or use other file sharing/storage sites. I'm also not so good with social media and much prefer traditional forums.

But I think if you want to get people to notice your game, you have to spread your net as wide as possible and be absolutely shameless about.

You are spot on 29_games, you have to be shameless because theirs so much noise out there now. Steam is no longer a haven with a huge list of daily releases. And while it may all feel pointless, you've got to persist, and just keep posting. Set aside an hour a week and get your posts up on as most places as possible - upload your demo, tell us to headline your game. Worst case you get nothing, best case you get featured
