Good day everyone, I am an aspiring game developer that wishes to get some feedback on what defines as great the puzzle games you love.

If you could leave your opinion by answering any of the following questions it would really be appreciated:

  1. What do you like about puzzle games? What made this genre stand out for you?
  2. What do you HATE about puzzle games? Is there any trend or mechanic you wish that came to an end?
  3. When purchasing new puzzle games, what do you look in them? What are your criteria or how do you look for something to meet your standards?
  4. How often do you buy or play puzzle games? Or what sets the mood for you to go look for something new to play?
  5. Do you prefer premium (paid in advance) or freemium (micro-transaction based) titles?
  6. How often does a new title that meets your standards appear? Why do you think that is the case?
  7. And finally, is there any mood or feeling you think that you look to get into while playing a puzzle game?

Once again, answering any of these questions can surely help a lot, so thank you very much in advance.

Ah I am a puzzle lover (aside of run&gun and RPG) :). Here's my opinions

1. Puzzling puzzles of course. Compared to other genres, this genre obviously requires thinking

2. Hmmm.... repetition, that's generic complaint as I see that in other games as well. As for trend to end, I wish 3 star rating were ended and be more flexible such as 5 stars or maybe even 4 stars

3. I look for something new, other than plain match 3. Make no mistake, match 3 is fun puzzle theme but I wish it's presented with something new such as being mixed with RPG e.g Dangerous Adventure 1 & 2. I also look for puzzle games with variation or there are more challenges as game progresses

4. Rarely depending on how many good puzzle games I found

5. I prefer free to play but if that's out of the options, premium would be better so I'm sure that I get full game

6. Hmmm... not often, as soon as I saw match 3, I lost my interest playing the game let alone buying. As I said before, match 3 is good but I want something new. Maybe developers aren't creative enough or just too lazy to make something new that there are too many match 3 games out there

7. Fun then challenge
