How to play back Battlefield 1942 - V - 2 - 2142 back online? Thread

There is the Battlefield 1942 - Vietnam - 2 - 2142 Solution to play online. Four times online fun.

1.) Battlefield 1942 Tutorial to play online:

This is not true, Battlefield 1942 / Vietnam and 2 can play their still online. It works best for BF 1942, because there it was solved best.

"Battlefield 1942" again to play online, you have to overwrite the old BF1942.exe in the "origin games" folder, otherwise you get no server more in your GameSpy:

The new BF1942.exe for Origin User:
bf1942.exe Origin: Team-simple.org

or

CD Retail User bf1942.exe: Team-simple.org

If your the old BF1942.exe in the origin Games folder (origin player) or Battlefield 1942 have installed folder, then-->; Right click on the bf1942--> shortcut on the desktop "Properties"; "Compatibility" check in "Win98" use-->;. hook "As Administrator" run put-->; Press "OK", reboot of the computer ready and you're back!

We know some people get sometimes issus with their new operating systems like Windows 10. Thats why we want to present you the solution Windows 10 solution tutorial, created by Sgt_Garcia AK joeldecaroual . It works for some another old games too. Yes its true, you can play Battlefield 1942 and his mods actually online, like in your good old times via Gamespy Browser.
We are happy to meet you after the tutorial back on our 100 different Game Servers Online.

A.) I saw on some versions of Windows 10 (but also about Windows 8 and 8.1) you do (must) also run FH "as an administrator for all users"
For that do:
Click mouse's right button FH icon (shortcut)
Click "Compatibility"
Select "Run this program as an administrator"
Click "Change settings for all users"
Then you can see "Compatibility for all users"
Click (tick) "Run this program as an administrator"
Click "Apply" then click "OK"
Then restart (reboot) your computer.

B.) But if you want to install "Battlefield 1942" on a fresh install of Windows 10 or after a new upgrade of windows 10 (in reality a new version of Windows 10)
you do (must) activate "Direct Play".

Hosts File Editing and install help:

Every computer has a file called a "hosts" file that allows you to override where server names like www.qtracker.com actually go to. The file looks and works the same way on nearly every operating system, however it's location may vary as well as the permissions required to edit this file.

On Linux/Unix systems you will find the hosts file in: /etc
The full pathname is: /etc/hosts

On Windows systems you will find the hosts file in: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
The full pathname is: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS

Please note Windows can be installed on different drive letters and the WINDOWS folder may be named something other than WINDOWS. This is not typical, however.

If you are leasing a server from a hosting company, you may not have permission to modify this file in which case contact your hosting company so they can make the required changes.

The following additions need to be made to the end of the hosts file. These lines will go after anything that already exists in the file, and take care not to edit any existing lines in the file.

To play BFV Online please go to: Multiplay / Internet / Update

After then you can see the eight active Server. In our test we choose the -[HELLO]- Conquest Server and it works.

B1.) Navigate to:
Control Panel

B2.) In left part of the page click:
"Turn Windows features on or off"

B3.) You can see a window named (with name):
"Windows features"

B4.) Click "Legacy Components"

B5.) Then select "DirectPlay"

B6.) Then restart (reboot) your PC.

You can play all these for Battlefield Games Online with mods also too.

There are some Sci-Fi Fire mods, but there seems to be not the mod community in compare to BF1942 or 2.

Thanks a lot buschhans, much appreciated! I used Tunngle to play BFV, since I could not find any servers anymore. Glad to see there's a way around it .
