Hello there! ♪ My name is Darrell Reconose (also known as Dibur), a composer/audio engineer specializing in RPG/JRPG, anime, fantasy, adventure, and "Neo-Retro" music. I make music for indie games as a full-time freelancer, and am currently available for contract work.

Skills/Assets:

  • Music Mastery – As a result of my life-long obsessive love for RPG soundtracks, I have the “JRPG sound” down to a science – however, I am also well-versed in the music styles of other game genres. I also have strong backgrounds in metal, jazz, pop, progressive, folk, chiptune, electronic, ethnic styles, funk, and voiceover editing.
  • Flexibility – I stay in contact with your team throughout the entire development to discuss exactly what kind of music you need. I can work with as much or as little direction/reference as you want. Every project is unique and is treated as such!
  • I offer multiple service packages, each tailored to different budgets, so that my music services are available to developers of all sizes.
  • Efficiency – As a one-man music team doing this full time, I have an effective, streamlined method that covers the entire music-creating process from start to finish, from the composing stages all the way to mastering. Your music will be delivered by your set deadline, guaranteed.
  • In addition to music, I have a solid background as a QA & localization lead for AAA game studios. I offer free QA/localization services with some of my service packages.

Testimonials:
"Darrell Reconose is a music composer like no other. We have gotten in touch with hundreds of composers so far, but no one ever impressed us like Darrell. Darrell is very easy to communicate with, both flexible and responsive, his works are awesome, inspiring and pioneering. He always surprised us with exceptional results, modifying and building upon our proposal, but never ignoring it. It was a gratifying experience to find myself eagerly waiting for the next composition to get finished, not as a project leader, but simply as a music enthusiast. It has truly been a great pleasure working with him."
-Hepari, Founder & Director at Lanze Games, 09/12/2014

"Darrell has composed music for two mobile games with me now and I love his work. One of the most consistent compliments I get from my games is how much people love the music and how it gets stuck in their head (in a good way). On the first game and music piece, I wasn't 100% sure what I was looking for and we went back and forth for awhile until we were both happy. Once we had the style down, he knocked piece after piece out of the park and I rarely ever had to request any changes. I then asked him to do two more pieces for a second mobile game. I sent him a beta version of the game so that he could get a feel for what I was doing and I only had a single minor revision to send back to him between both of the pieces. I'm incredibly happy that I had found someone that can collaborate with me, and take the creative freedom I like to give, and run with it and keep coming up with amazing ideas. I highly recommend him and I plan on working with him on future projects."

About me:
I am a self-taught musician with over 13 years of experience as a composer-producer, all of which were spent obsessively studying the music of my favorite/influential composers, including Motoi Sakuraba, Hiroki Kikuta, Michiru Yamane, Yuzo Koshiro, Noriyuki Iwadare, and of course Nobuo Uematsu. I grew up with the SNES, and am an avid fan of JRPGs and story-driven games. As time and technology progressed, I became captivated by the way new technology shaped and evolved the RPG as a game genre. I fully believe in the RPG's continued presence in the gaming sphere, and seek to create music that emulates the catchy melodic style of old school games while breathing new life into it with modern production, unbound by the technological limitations of yesteryear.
