Add a new Genre - Survival Thread

Add a new Genre Survival. Maybe under Sim. I love survival games and reading descriptions in order to find games like this is a pain.

I'd have to disagree with that as Survival is theme. Besides, you can have survival theme in shooter, action, platformer, adventure and arcade genre

Is it a subgenre or a theme? We can certainly add it, what do you think @feillyne?

Worth adding. Hmmm, would agree with DarkBloodbane, it fits in more as a theme than a genre. The only way to combine horror theme and survival is to introduce survival as a subgenre though.

Well I think the "themes" should probably be dropped for tags right - and to retain genre?

Yes, if genre could be retained, swapping themes for tags would be great, as there are still lots of themes missing (such as Steampunk, Postapocalyptic, Space, etc), and some of them could be combined then. (Space and Western, Survival and Horror, and so on.)

I prefer theme, cause survival theme can be used in any genre. Flappy Bird is basically survival as you only has one life, some Castlevania series are also survival as player only has one life (but there is save game feature) and especially Don't Starve which is definitely survival from the title. Those 3 games have different genre however

Without a question, Survival is a theme.

It's a theme and not a genre.
Game genres strictly relate to MECHANICS and not things like theme and setting.

Survival theme shall be added next deploy. Also dont forget we have support for tags now, so you can technically link your game or mod with anything
