3ds Max 8 Alo Importer freezing Thread

So, i've been looking to get into modeling for Star Wars: Empire at War for some time now, and finally found a copy of 3ds Max 8 to use. I followed the instructions for it, installed both the Importer and Exporter to the Plugins and Scripts folders, installed Service Pack 3, and set the program to run in Windows XP compatibility mode. However, when I run the software, 3ds max 8 runs fine, but once I go to set the texture paths for the ALO importer, it freezes completely. The program doesn't stop responding, but I can't click on anything, and it just sits there until I close it out from the Task Manager.

I'm running Windows 10 64x

Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
