Welcome to the 3rd annual Indie of the Year awards, a celebration of the best independent games released in 2012 as well as the up and coming whom we hope edge towards release in 2013. For the next 30 days, it's time to recognize the dedication and creativty of so many developers who have given everything to their craft (which, in many cases amounts to years of development).

We expect the 2012 Indie of the Year to be our biggest yet - so make yourself count by finding your favorite indies and voting for them! Who will join Terraria and Minecraft previous winners who continue to be as popular as ever. Up until Jan 1st 2013 join us and help celebrate your community, culture and give thanks to the developers by voting for your favorite projects. Welcome to the 3rd Annual Indie of the Year Awards (also check out our App of the Year awards and Mod of the Year awards).

December could not have come around quicker this year and with all the buzz and excitement in the air it is a good idea to take a look at what we have planned for this years Indie of the Year. So think of this as your helpful guild to the next month's celebration.

Phase One Nominations are OPEN!

On December 1st the voting booths open to the public, so spread the word to get your favorite indie games into this years Top 100!

If you missed any of the fantastic releases we had had this year fear not as our editors have put together a list of all the featured releases for each quarter of the year.

It's all about the art!

Last year event theme was created by a talented young buck and 2012 is no different. Wally is back and has never looked better with his new pals Connie the controller and Mobie the Mobile (we are very original here in the DesuraNET offices). Something Physical

As if to put all other awards to shame this year will feature specially crafted extremely limited physical trophies sent out to the winning developers for Editors Choice and Players Choice (released). The process was something we have never attempted before and it takes advantage of new age technology. Find out more with our detailed article. Unveiled December 10th.

Phase Two TOP 100!!

Phase two begins on December 12th along with the Top 100 indie games that you the players selected for 2012! Players will be able to vote from the 12th right up until the 21st of December on the Top 100 page there you will be able place your votes for the mods you want to see win Indie of the Year 2012.

Winners Announced

Just like previous years our final awards are announced just around Christmas, it will be a fantastic gift for the hard working developers!

We have also a new category this year especially designed for IndieDB to celebrate the diversity that Indie games have. Introducing the Genre Awards, a staff selected category to define our editors most memorable selections from five different genres including Action, Adventure, RPG, Strategy and Puzzle.
