Great to make both easy, simple games in minutes for beginners, and tons of options for those who are willing to go one step further. Game maker has been used to create commercial games, for iPods, iPhones, iPads and psp. The game maker community on Yoyogames is strong (well over 100 000 members) and very supportive. Posting your game on this community can result in it being published on an international scale, in addition to being featured and played by thousands of people.Yoyogames have also released a new version of game maker (8.1) which will soon allow users to submit their games to the company. If their game is good enough, it will soon be able to be placed on the app store, and the developer(s) may even be able to receive profit from their game. I highly recommend for you to try out this program, and I am sure that you will have great fun with it.

I'm a little bit late updating my old GM7, but what I've seen so far is a lot more polished looking. I like the fact that the GML is colour-coded.
The one gripe I have is when importing sprites, you have to individually choose whether or not the background in each file is on or off. Aside from that, I haven't had any issues with the program!

An proffesional program that doesn't give a leak. Easy to learn from beggining, continuing it's way's into a real coding of GML.
Drag And Drop functions, and great support from other platforms.
Doing good, can lead into luck.
Program is worthy 10/10, it's just because it has to evolve.

Game Maker is very easy and strong , but DirectX 8 is too old.

I have used game maker since January I have done most tutorials on the site, this is a great engine for a beginning developer with dreams like me, YOYO even has their upcoming publishing, and my favorite GM game is Mr.Karoshi, and for any one who likes to make awsome 2d games that has never been done, and I mean someone withe great Coding and art skills and etc. then gM is for yiu, it literally inly took me two weeks to learn the GM interface and 5 months to properly write GML on my own the only downfall is that people say that this engine won't get accepted by popular portals such as steam.

Very flexible and easy-to-use tool, perfect for 2D games and quick prototyping. Allows beginners to progress easily thanks to its simple drag-&-drop interface. Not only is it good for new comers, but also allows advanced users to write complex scripts in its built-in coding language GML (which stands for GameMaker Language).
The new version 8.1 has a built-in updating systems which will keep users who have paid for it up-to-date with the latest versions and bug-fixes. It also includes a nice little guide which comes in handy whenever a user has trouble understanding the workings of one of its components or when he forgets a functions and/or its purpose. It is provided with a nice pack of graphical (sprites, backgrounds, tiles, etc...) and audio (music and sound-effects) resources.
Overall, GameMaker is really the way to go for those who are new to the game making world, and will allow skilled users to enter the industry with publishing system YoYoGames offers at their website.
