About

FlashPunk is a free ActionScript 3 library designed for developing 2D Flash games. It provides you with a fast, clean framework to prototype and develop your games in. This means that most of the dirty work (timestep, animation, input, and collision to name a few) is already coded for you and ready to go, giving you more time and energy to concentrate on the design and testing of your game.

NOTE: FlashPunk is targeted towards games with 2D bitmap graphics, as opposed to vector graphics. This means that instead of using Flash vectors as sprites, you'll be working with embedded PNG, JPEG, or GIF sprites.

Features

  • Framerate-independent and fixed-framerate timestep support.
  • Fast & manageable rectangle, pixel, and grid collision system.
  • Helper classes for animations, tilemaps, text, backdrops, and more.
  • Sound effect support with volume, panning, and fading/crossfading.
  • Powerful motion tweening for linear, curved, and path-based movement.
  • Z-sorted render lists for easy depth management.
  • Simple keyboard and mouse input state checking.
  • Quick & efficent particle effects and emitters.

Working with Flex

This framework is designed for use with the free Flex framework, used for building Flash applications; by combining this with a code editor such as FlashDevelop or Flash Builder, you can import the FlashPunk library and develop games without the need of the official Flash IDE.

About Guy vs The Wicked and Nefarious Land with 0 comments by Tiopalada on May 12th, 2012

Hello, guys and gals, how are you? I hope you're all doing fine.

This Saturday we bring some news about the game development. We are happy to announce the third boss is up and running! I'm almost sure that guys you will love it. The battle is absolutely thrilling. Here is a teaser screenshot:

The misterious 3rd boss

You guys might have noticed how the room is dark. Well, this boss uses a mechanic similar to Ganon's mechanic on TLoZ: A Link To The Past. You must light up the torches in order to attack the boss. But what am I doing? I won't spoil all the fun!

Recently, we've noticed that we could visually improve the game, so, we've been working on lots of stuff to make the game prettier: Torches, tiles, boxes, walls, FXs, screens and many other stuff. Here is a example:

Improvements

We've made Moombie's wall actually look like a stone wall, improving its animation and making it even prettier. But that is just one of many stuff we've been working on! We are doing our best to improve the immersion process, to make the game even more sleep-stealing!

Oh, by the way, we have 2 new videos up showing detailed gameplay from two rooms, one using the waves mechanics and the other one using the survival mechanic. Hope you guys enjoy it!
