Information Before Playing
The AMC Squad uses a modified EDuke32 engine (titled AMCDuke32), which implements new features and works around issues in the Duke3D code. Linux builds are not included in the package -- they must be compiled from source, which can be found here:
Github.com
The major changes are documented inside the repository README, and can also be seen in the commit log. EDuke32 was created by Richard Gobeille, and Build was created by Ken Silverman. The respective source code bases are licensed under GPL 2.0 and the BUILD license respectively.
- If it's your first time, start with Episode 1 ('The Men who were AMC') and play on Normal difficulty. The higher skill levels introduce new mechanics that you will be unprepared for, and may be under-equipped to deal with.
- IF YOU HAVE A PREVIOUS INSTALLATION, RUN THE DATA IMPORT TOOL TO COPY YOUR PROGRESS OVER. The data import tool included in the package.
- The renderer the game was designed for is Polymost/OpenGL. Many essential features will not work in Classic/Software (such as FMVs) and performance will suffer drastically. Software will remain available as a legacy rendering mode.
- In the AMC Base Lobby you can talk to the receptionist to take an optional training course. This is highly recommended for first-timers to get familiar with new movement abilities.
- Make sure all your keybinds are set up correctly. AMC Squad is designed for mouse + keyboard, and it's recommend to have alt-fire bound to your right mouse button, with reload/tertiary as your middle mouse button.
- AMC's inventory system is different from other BUILD engine games; press the Inventory key to open up a wheel, and then scroll with the mouse key to move around it. You can change this back to the standard left/right system in the options menu.
- The game options menu provides settings that may improve performance and to reduce some screen clutter and screen flashing.
- All your progress in the AMC Squad is saved without requiring manual save files; and the game remembers on what difficulty you beat the levels. When you start a new game on a higher skill level, you retain everything you've collected, researched and bought in-game. You can reset your progress through the "Save Settings" menu if needed.
- Protip: When in the character select, right-clicking a character's portrait takes you closer to the mission select, instead of the character's room. If you wish to change characters, head into the briefing room. The mission interface has multiple levels; you can zoom out with a right-click.
Computer Specs
The AMC Squad pushes EDuke32 and Build to the very limits; you will need a much more powerful computer than the original games to run at a stable framerate.
We recommend the following:
Minimum:
Processor: Any 64-bit Intel or AMD CPU
Memory: 1024 MB RAM
Graphics: 512 MB video memory. Intel integrated graphics supported.
Recommended:
Processor: Intel Core i5, AMD Ryzen or equivalent
Memory: 2048 MB RAM
Graphics: 1024 MB or more dedicated video memory. NVIDIA or AMD preferred.
Known Issues:
- The initial game startup may be unusually slow. This is normal. If the window hangs and the game doesn't launch immediately, be patient and ignore any messages stating that "AMCDuke32 is not responding". The game will eventually boot up properly.
this zip doesn't seem to contain anything other than certain assets, no grp/grpinfo files, the title made it sound like it contained all episodes and everything needed to play?
Once the download becomes available again, it should work. I repackaged the content and reuploaded it. Most likely, there was a problem with the compression algorithm being used. Sorry for the inconvenience.
strange, try redownloading since moddb's servers are getting hammered (By STALKER: Gamma I guess?) there's definitely an amcsquad.exe in the file.
Edit: Actually you're probably right. I had no idea that some big YouTuber covered "Gamma" a week ago and thus launched the site straight into the void with it. Pretty ****** of them to have the modpack downloader hosted on Github but pointing directly at Moddb for all the actual downloads.
OMG Yes! Downloading ASAP! 😻
It's OUT!
Is there anywhere else this is hosted? Moddb has been having serious issues over the past week. 80% of the time the servers are down and when they are actually up download speeds usually don't go above 500kb/s.
Amcsquad.itch.io
Awesome!
Hi there jblade,
I truly enjoyed the game and i think it's quite good but i found some weird quirks or glitched:
1. In the annivesery edition i saved eve but when i transferd the save to this edition eve was not in the base. I had to save her again in the same mission and this time i saw her.
2. Car probs have weird large hitboxes that weren't in the annivesery edition like in the edf mission wet dream.
3. When i bought the flechette shotgun for snowfall, it didn't register my buy although i have the shothun in the loadout.
4. In some instances when i get amulet like in rusty room or in the trainig course i receive a panelty in the money (depends on the kind of
the amulet).
In best regards,
Shahar R.
Hey great game just one question is there a way to disable the cheat code penalization on this version? I tried the Cheated 0 switch in the code folder but that doesn't seem to work now. Like I said great game but some levels are Nintendo hard and I don't want to quick load every 2 seconds or have the budget frozen because I really enjoy the research project game mechanic. Keep up the good work.
In the patch 4.1.0, the noclip cheat is no longer counted as a cheat (for the purpose of penalization that is). It's intended to be able to get out of the occasional softlock (there's always going to be something we didn't foresee right) but I guess you could mistreat it like that ;-)
It can be done but it requires a lot of file editing. Like you have to remove references to the "cheated" variable in like 30 different places across 10 or so different files. I had to do it once because I ran into a seriously game breaking bug and had no saves to revert and I wasn't about to play another 4 or 5 hours to get back to where I was, but instead ended up spending about an hour figuring out how to fully disable the cheat block and then editing the files to do so.
Do i need any patch file?or is this full version with patch?
Updated the file to include the patch now.
Hi,thx for the upload,do i need to download the other episodes ,or does this one include them all ??
it contains everything you need to play.
why don't you put it on steam ? its a good game
It's not done.
Still uses some assets from copyrighted games.
this game is so cool i wish you could sell it because it would be worth every penny and you and anyone who worked on it deserves it
I think there is a bug in the Bloody Mountains mission EDF mission. I assume you are supposed to go under a small tunned in a river in the beginning of the mission. I tried crouching, jumping, sliding, but I can't go though. I had to disable clipping to drop down.
I figured out you have to use granade to blew up the door. I'm stuck on finding green card now.
