In this update, we feature all the notes we got from showing our game at the Indie Prize showcase at casual Connect, as well as what we are working on!

This past week the team has been demoing No Man's Land at the Indie Prize showcase at Casual Connect! We got tons of great feedback from gamers, publishers, and other companies such as Autodesk!

Check out this interview one of our Co-Founders, Joel Garvin had with Autodesk! He describes No Man's Land, what it's all about, our goals, and why we love it so much.Everyone who played had a blast and really enjoyed appreciated the simplicity. No Man's Land is the type of game that is easy to learn, but hard to master. The controls are so straightforward, you can learn how to play in less then a minute. But the strategy behind the gameplay can get pretty complex, especially when you are customizing different load outs and trying different units, defenses, and upgrades.

There was also voting at the Indie Prize Showcase, if someone gave you a sticker it meant they liked your game the best! We got the front and back of our plaque completely covered, our name even got blocked out. We were definitely in the top running, but sadly didn't win. We are happy so many people voted for us though, we appreciate it!

We also got to attend some awesome events in San Francisco and meet tons of great people. At one rooftop party, people were playing Tetris on the side of a Skyscraper! We are currently working on implementing new units and defenses, as well as fine tuning the balance. We are looking at October for a web based version of the game that is free to play, but still has a solid amount of content for you to play around with.

But anyway, onto more specific dev updates!

We have been working on implementing a new level, based on the battle of Liege in WW1. The level features a bridge in the center that acts a choke point. Players will be able to build defenses up until they reach the bridge.

Dev Updates:

- Balancing the Mech. Currently he is a bit too slow. We are making his walking speed faster and increasing his rate of fire.

- Getting rid of the middle lane for vehicles. Currently there are 4 "invisible lanes" - Tanks take up 2 lanes and can spawn on the right, left, or in the middle. We found the middle clogs up the combat too much, so we are getting rid of it.

- Animations. We are working on improving the animations all around, especially for the mech. We are giving each unit an idle animation for when they are not moving.

- Modeling new units and defenses. We will be adding a few more units and defenses before releasing a F2P build. This way players will have more options to customize their load out.

- Implementing new research options. Currently we only have the research option in that speeds up build times. We are working on adding in 7 more, that vary from more damage, health, and spawning more units at once.

Screenshots:

Here we have a screenshot featuring our new HUD, health bars, Barbed Wire, and the Double Barreled Tank!

Here we see the Zeppelin, Riot Shield Grunts, and regular Grunts fighting.

Goal:

Our goal currently is to get out a F2P version of the game by October. This version of the game will feature all the units, defenses, and research options that any class can use. We will have a survival style game mode where you can customize your loadout. We will continue working on the full featured game, with nations, unique units, and multiplayer after that.
